INTRODUCTION TO MADEE THE WINE SNOB

Hi! I'm Madeline McGill, but I go by Madee. I'm from a Ada, Oklahoma a small town about an hour away. I am a senior and a Human Relations major graduating in May. After graduating I will be working for E & J Gallo Winery as a Sales Rep in Oklahoma City! I am a 4th year member and Captain of the OU Pom Squad and it has given me so many amazing experiences over the past 4 years. When I'm not dancing, I love hanging out with friends, sunshine, and binge watching tv shows. Recently, I have watched some really good movies; Fyre Fraud is a documentary about a music festival that was a huge scandal (It's on Hulu, I definitely recommend). I loved A Star Is Born, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are so talented and I haven't stopped listening to the soundtrack from the movie. Along with movies, some tv shows/series I have been watching are Dirty John, Innocent Man, and Schitts Creek. Both Dirty John and Innocent Man are based off true stories, and I think that's why I like them so much. I watched a lot of tv over the break, but also got to go to Colorado for a little bit. It was so much fun getting to ski and Colorado is so beautiful.
I picture I took on Main Street in Frisco, Colorado

After Colorado, I went back home to Ada where I got to spend time with my family. I am the oldest of three, and we have the best dog in the entire world named Moxie. I got to take her on lots of walks and watch a lot of movies with her! I love getting spend time with my family, this being my last semester I am trying to be better about taking everything in! I have so many lasts and I don't want to take anything for granted. The fall semester flew by so quickly, and I know the spring will fly by even faster.

This is Moxie, she is a "Wauzer," mix between a Westie and a Schnauzer!

  1. Hi Madeline!

Congratulations on your last semester! I hope everything goes well and you're truly able to take everything in before you leave. Your dog is adorable and Moxie is such a cute name. I've never been to Colorado but have so many friends who always talk about just how beautiful (and cold) it is. I hope to visit one day! It looks like we watch a lot of the same things on Hulu! I've been loving all the crime documentaries they've recently added and Innocent Man was so good!

I hope you have a great last semester!

  2. Hey Madeline!

Your dog is such a cutie. I own a boarder collie/lab mix so every time someone tells me about their dog I just get so excited. It is so cool how you are a captain of OU Pom that must be such a fun way to cheer on OU and stay involved on campus. Also I totally just watched the documentary on the music festival and it was so good.

  3. Hi Madee! I wonder if you’d know my face since you’re on the pom squad and I was in the band for four years (your face looks familiar anyway). We seem to have similar tastes in movies, although most of your movies are on my “to-watch” list. If you liked the movie “The Innocent Man,” you’d probably like the book by the same name that its based on. I got to meet the author when he came to Oklahoma to research the book, and he did a great job researching everything. Your dog also looks just like my mom’s dog; Holli is a Mini Schnauzer/poodle mix, and her face looks exactly like Moxie’s.

  4. Hello, Madee!

First things first, your puppy is precious--such an adorable mix! I have never seen a Westie mixed with a Schnauzer before and the name Wauzer cracks me up! I, too, am from Oklahoma (Edmond) but I have never been to Ada before--or most of Oklahoma, actually. That picture from Colorado is gorgeous and I reallu hope I get to go there sometime soon! I think it is so cool that you are a wine expert and already have a job lined up for after college! I am graduating this May, as well, and cannot wait to be done with college, at least for a little while!

Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself and good luck with your last semester of college and beyond!

  5. Congratulations on having a job already lined up, Madee! I am a fan of pretty much any red wine, especially garnacha... and Ecco Domani is a Gallo brand, right? I like Ecco Domani! I hope that you will have a great adventure starting that new job after you graduate. And your Moxie is such a cutie! Maybe you will add her to the class Padlet of Pets. Here's it is -- Padlet Tech Tips, which is a fun way to do an extra credit Tech Tip thing. :-)

  6. Hi Madee!
That dog is adorable. It's great that you got to go home and spend some time with your family over the break.
I'm in my last semester as well and definitely feeling the lasts. It's a little scary to think about finishing school but also very exciting. I'm sure you're looking forward to starting your new job! Enjoy the rest of school, and good luck with this class!

  7. Hi there Madee!
Your dog is too cute. It's so cool that you already have your plans after graduation all figured out! It sounds like it's a place you'll really enjoy working. I'll graduate this spring too, but I plan on staying in school to pursue a Master's degree. Good luck in your last semester!

  8. Hi Madee,
Congratulations on already having a job! That makes senior year much better just knowing that you already have something lined up for the future. Your dog is adorable! Colorado is one of my favorite places. It is just something about pure nature and the mountains that make it just so memorable. I can't wait to read some stories of yours. Good luck this semester!

  9. Hey Madee! I used to snowboard all the time and I have not been in years! Every time I see a picture of a snow covered mountain it brings back so many memories! Congratulations on landing your new job. I am sure you're excited to be graduating soon. I watched a tv show on netflix recently about Ada and I wonder what someone from Ada would think of it. It was about two wrongful conviction cases from the 1980's I believe.

  10. Hi Madee, congratulations on getting a job secured! That must be such a huge weight off of your shoulders at this point in your college career! I am also a huge dog person and I think your dog is awesome and adorable! Colorado is one of my favorite places anywhere on earth, and I am also a big snowboarding fan myself. Some of my close friends are from Ada, so that is really cool to see also!

  11. Hey howdy Madee!
First off, what a sweet post grad job. It seems like you are doing everything the right way. Ha! I wonder if you had taken John Boyer's Geography of Wine. It was an online class where obviously lots of wine was encouraged. If it wasn't your last semester, I would say you should check it out. Maybe you could teach them all a thing or two.

  12. Hey Madee!

Congrats on your job. That sounds really cool. I went to Italy this summer and drank quite a bit of wine but I have to confess I don't really like it. That's really cool that you have been part of the pom squad for so long and that you are the captain. You are right that everything goes by so quickly. I graduate next semester and I am already beginning to feel nostalgic.
    Good luck in this class!

I had so much fun reading through your introduction. It is so cool that you are from Ada. I just watched that Netflix documentary that is based in Ada. I think it is awesome that you will be a sales rep for a winery. Also, your dog is adorable. I hope you have a great semester.

  14. Hi Madee!

I totally know what you mean about the last semester really flying by and trying to stop and take it all in. It's so exciting that you're going to be working at a winery. How fun! I love wine. I also loved A Star is Born and absolutely sobbed my eyes out in the theater. Good luck in the last semester and I can't wait to read your stories!

  15. Hi Madee,

Congratulations on graduating, very exciting stuff. And you already have a job? Wow! You got your life figured out already. You know I always wanted to visit Colorado and go skiing, but I never had the chance. Glad to hear you got lots of fun.

I look forward to reading stories from you this semester.

    P.S. Moxie looks adorable!

  16. Hi Madee,

I really enjoyed reading you introduction and getting to know a little bit about you. I think that it is super cool that you're from Ada, as I know a couple people from there. One of my best friends is actually Reed Townsend so I am assuming that you probably have heard of him. Additionally, I also really enjoyed watching the FYRE festival, it is such a good documentary and a crazy story. Also, I went to Italy to study abroad this past summer and finally acquired a taste for whine. I think its super cool that you also are a wine lover. Hope you have a great rest of the semester!

  17. Hi Madee,

That is super exciting for you that you will be graduating soon! I am sure you have been working hard, and if I were you, I would be ready to move onto the next part of my life. That's cool that you got to visit Colorado to go skiing. My family used to go there once a year to ski, and it was a fun time!

  18. Hi Madee,
Congrats on the upcoming job and graduation. I hope you love your new job. Your dog, Moxie, is super cute! I have never been to Colorado but I am going this summer. I hope you have a great rest of the semester and good luck in this class!

  19. Hi Madee!
Congrats on being so close to graduation and having a job lined up after college! Those are both really huge accomplishments. Your dog Moxie is super cute, and I definitely agree that getting to see pets and family over break is one of the best parts of break. Colorado also sounds like a great time. I hope your spring semester is going well and isn't flying by too fast!

  20. Hey Madee!
From one senior to another, welcome to the end of the world! Or at least, the world as it's been for the last few years.
I think you have a super interesting job lined up for you after college! Wine is something I've only slightly gotten into recently, and my tastes haven't quite developed all the way yet. I'd be interested if you have a few beginner recommendations!

  21. Hey Madee,

Only a few more weeks of undergrad left for the both of us! Also, congrats on having that job lines up already. That is a huge achievement! I recently watched Fyre Fraud as well and loved it. I can't believe the guy who organized that was so delusional. Good luck in your last few weeks at OU!

  22. Hi Madee,

How exciting that you will be working for E & J Gallo Winery as a Sales Rep in Oklahoma City. I am also a huge fan of wine. I have a friend that works for a winery right now and he is always getting to take home different wines to try. Just last week they gave him an entire case to take home. Best of luck!

  23. Hello, Madee!

Congrats on finally graduating in spring! I bet it must be a pretty hectic time for you right now! I am glad to hear that you have a job lined up for you after graduation. That is one less thing that you have to worry about now. I actually want to go skiing in Colorado myself. I am looking forward to reading your stories!

  24. Hi Madee!
It is the last week of class, it is unfortunate that I came across your blog so late. I am glad that I at least got to see your finished work. I wish you luck with finals and the end of the semester!

  25. Hey Madee!

It does not get much better than the mountains in Colorado. Out of the places I have been, the skiing and the scenery in Colorado are best. Also, he might be a little older, but I work with Jake Scroggins. I saw you were from Ada and thought you might know him. Anyway, it was nice to learn a little bit about you.
